All Quiet on the Western Front
Birinci Dünya Savaşı esnasında bir erkek lisesinde öğretmenlik yapan Profesör Kantorek, öğrencilerini savaşa katılmanın ve bir asker olarak savaşta yer almanın son derece onurlu bir mevki olduğu gerekçesiyle doldurmaktadır. Bu etkileyici konuşmalardan etkilenen askerler gönüllü olarak askere yazılarak Alman ordusuna katılırlar. Ancak savaş ne kitaplarda yazdığı, ne de öğretmenlerinin anlattığı türden epik bir olay değildir. Genç askerler bu yanılgının farkında olsalar da artık geriye dönebilmeleri mümkün değildir; tüm toyluklarıyla olup biten tüm siyasi oyunların ve acımasız planların gölgesinde canları için mücadele edeceklerdir. 1930
